Le Havre midfielder Pape Gueye has signed a pre-contract agreement with Watford and will join this summer on a free transfer, the Watford Observer understands.
Reports emerged from France this afternoon suggesting that the player had signed a pre-agreement at the start of the year, committing to five years with the Hornets once his current deal with Le Havre expires this summer.
And, despite the player's representatives denying those claims earlier this afternoon, it is now understood that a deal is in fact in place for the player, who had the remainder of his season cancelled earlier today.
Gueye is a 21-year-old French midfielder who featured 26 times for the Ligue 2 club during the season interrupted by the coronavirus pandemic.
He was also a target for both Marseille and Arsenal.
