The agent of Watford winger Ismaila Sarr has said both he and the player are pleased with the move to Vicarage Road, despite the Hornets' poor season.

The winger's future in Hertfordshire could come under threat should Watford fail to avoid relegation in their remaining three matches, but his agent Thierno Seydi, has claimed that both are hoping he can continue his development in the Premier League.

Speaking to Agence de Presse Sénégalaise (APS), Seydi said: "Despite their situation, we are convinced to have made the right choice by moving him from Rennes to Watford, a club who had good results the previous years but who are unfortunately going through a more difficult season this year."

Sarr had the option to join some of Europe's top clubs before choosing Watford, including Barcelona.

However Seydi said they wanted to build his career, in the same way he had done with fellow Senegalese internationals, Sadio Mane and Idrissa Gana Gueye.

“Our experience in the industry confirms to us that a career is built step by step," he said.

"This strategy having worked for the first two, we applied it for Ismaila Sarr. It is the right work plan and the right method.

"Sarr has had a serious season, but it was cut due to the Covid-19, which somewhat clipped his wings.

"Fortunately, Watford still have their fate in their hands and we hope and pray that they will maintain their position in the English top flight."
