Watford goalkeeper Ben Foster could be set for an immediate return to the Premier League, according to a national newspaper report.

The Sun says the 37-year-old Watford stopper is wanted by both Chelsea and Everton.

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard is believed to be in the market for a new goalkeeper with plenty of uncertainty around the future of Chelsea keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga who signed for the London club for a world record fee of £71.6 million in August 2018.

The report also links Foster with a move to Everton to provide competition for England number one Jordan Pickford.

Foster, who rejoined Watford in 2018 after a previous two year loan spell with the club from Manchester United between 2005-2007, was arguably Watford's best player this season.

He made the joint-fifth most number of saves in the Premier League this season with 117.

Foster was recently involved in the Hornets' kit launch where he modelled the club's new Kelme goalkeeping kit.

Watford have already lost one goalkeeper after Brazilian shot stopper Heurelho Gomes left after his contract ran out.

The only other recognised goalkeeper at the club is 26-year-old Austrian Daniel Bachmann, who is yet to make a league appearance for them.

Pontus Dalhberg, 21, is on loan at Swedish side BK Hacken until June 2021.
