Watford beat Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 in a pre-season friendly at Vicarage Road yesterday.

A well-hit strike from Domingos Quina and an Andre Gray penalty had the Hornets two ahead before Heung Min Son pulled one back for the visitors from the spot.

The game was only head coach Vladimir Ivic's second in charge since his arrival, both of which have ended up with wins for Watford, following last week's 1-0 win over Scunthorpe.

Quina had the Hornets ahead midway through the first-half with a swerving effort from 25-yards out that had the beating of Joe Hart after defender Davinson Sanchez backed away, allowing the defender to find the space needed to unleash the effort.

That lead was doubled shortly before the break when Gray converted from the spot after Tom Dele-Bashiru had been hauled down in the area.

Son took his chance to half the deficit following the restart after a Glenn Murray foul resulted in the game's second penalty.

However, by the end of the game, Tottenham were fortunate to not be 3-1 down after goalkeeper Paolo Gazzaniga made his way forward to attack a late corner, only for Watford to break.

Marc Navarro's shot from 50 yards out seemed destined for the back of the unmanned Spurs net, only for Son to spring back and hook the ball away from underneath the crossbar.
