Watford will face Oxford United away in the Carabao Cup second round.
Should the Hornets beat The Us at the Kassam Stadium in round two, they will then face the winner of Newport County versus Cambridge United in round three, also away from home.
The draws for both rounds were made after Brentford's round one penalty shootout victory over Wycombe Wanderers this afternoon.
Watford have won four of their last five games against Oxford, with the sides drawing 0-0 the last time they met in March 1999.
The second round games will take place on Tuesday, September 15 and Wednesday, September 16.
Round three games will be held the following week on Tuesday, September 22 and Wednesday, September 23.
Last season the Hornets were knocked out at Everton in round four of the competition.
