Pervis Estupinan has joined Spanish side Villarreal for £15million Watford have confirmed.
A deal was reached between the player and both clubs at the start of the week and has now been announced by the Hornets.
Following the Carabao Cup win over Oxford United last night, head coach Vladimir Ivic spoke of the need for incoming signings, something which was reiterated by CEO and chairman Scott Duxbury, who said the club were building a squad of players who wanted to be at Vicarage Road for the Championship campaign.
“As Vladimir has said repeatedly over the past week or so, having a squad of players 100 per cent committed to our challenge is imperative,” said Duxbury.
“Continued player trading – incoming as well as outgoing – is inevitable over the course of the next month or so, given the shortened pre-season timescales this summer.
“But that doesn’t mean our focus will be distracted. Building a fully committed squad of players is of the utmost importance.
“In all of this, our priority is to work closely with Vladimir to ensure we leave the transfer window behind with a squad he believes can achieve his objectives.”
