Watford’s head coach has said the club “needs to respect every team” ahead of its League Cup tie with Newport County.

Vladimir Ivic says that the Hornets need to “show our quality” to win tonight’s Carabao Cup clash with the Exiles at their Rodney Parade stadium.

Speaking ahead of the game, Ivic said: “We need to respect every team, it doesn’t matter which category they are in, because if you don’t respect them then you cannot win.

“I ask my players to respect the team but we need to show our quality to win the game. If we don’t do that, we cannot win. Our target is to reach the next round and to win the game and we need to work to prepare for the game.

“We’ve worked with the players who will play in this game for the past two or three days, and I expect them until the last second of the game to do their job in the best way.”

Ivić suggested more Under-23 players will be given an opportunity in this cup tie, as they were in the previous round at Oxford United.

Ismaïla Sarr could also be available, although Troy Deeney will not play after only recently returning to training.

Tonight’s game will kick off at 7pm.
