Watford are interested in signing Chelsea left-back Baba Rahman, who is understood to be available for a loan.

The Watford Observer understands that the Hornets are one of several Championship sides hopeful of securing the Ghanaian's services ahead of next week's domestic transfer deadline.

Rahman has been at Chelsea since 2015, but has since been loaned to Schalke twice, before stints with Reims and Mallorca.

The 26-year-old has also featured 28 times for his national side.

Reports elsewhere suggest Leeds United's Barry Douglas is also an option.

Meanwhile, interest also remains in Newcastle United's Christian Atsu, who looks set to depart during this transfer window.

The Hornets made a loan move for the winger ahead of Monday's international transfer deadline, but a deal was not forthcoming.

Watford Observer:

Atsu has been told he is not in Newcastle's 25-man Premier League squad this season, but has rejected loan moves away before.

With the player in the final year of his contract with the magpies, any move now would likely be a permanent transfer rather than a temporary one.
