Manchester United have cooled their interest in Watford winger Ismaila Sarr after they had an offer rejected on the day of the international transfer deadline.

United were interested in taking the Senegal international on loan with an option to buy, but the Hornets stood firm with their valuation of the player, who has returned to action in the last two matches.

The two sides were unable to agree on a price for the player, with Watford having no need to move the player on, given the money they have raised through sales of other players.

Watford Observer:

There is still a chance for the Red Devils to sign the 22-year-old before the domestic transfer window closes, but it is understood that they had wanted to register him for the Champions League.

The deadline for that has since passed and United are believed to be reluctant to pay out for a player they will only be able to use in domestic competition, especially with the Hornets sticking firmly to their price.

Sarr is now on international duty with Senegal and it is now thought to be unlikely that he will leave before next Friday's deadline.
