Watford were the architects of their own downfall as mistakes cost them in their 1-0 defeat at Barnsley.

Here's how we rated their individual performances.

Ben Foster - 5

Not a lot he could've done for the goal, but his distribution was poor and he lacked urgency.

Ken Sema - 5

Didn't really offer anything going forward and was struggled defensively, particularly in the first-half.

Ben Wilmot - 4

At fault for the goal and was unable to steer a good chance on target in the second-half.

William Troost-Ekong - 5

Struggled with playing out from the back and gave away possession cheaply.

Craig Cathcart - 5

Also struggled to deal with Barnsley's pressing and looked unconvincing in possession.

Kiko Femenia - 6.5

By some distance Watford's best player in attack, but couldn't really create any clear-cut chances.

Etienne Capoue - 5.5

Still off the pace and in need of time to adapt. His passing got better as the game went on, but there was still no real incisiveness.

Tom Cleverley - 5

Too slow to release the ball when teammates were making runs in behind. Missed an absolute sitter as well.

Nathaniel Chalobah - 5

Offered little connectivity between the strikers and the defenders. Could be one of the players Ivic feels is lacking confidence.

Ismaila Sarr - 5.5

Doesn't look comfortable playing as a striker, but even his forrays down the wing offered little.

Joao Pedro - 5

No shots on target suggests that the forwards didn't have their best games. Pedro was starved of service and couldn't create much for himself.

SUBS

James Garner - 5.5

Had no real impact in what was a fairly anonymous cameo.

Andre Gray - 5.5

Had no real service or any chances to make an impact. Not really his fault, but he couldn't get into the game.

Will Hughes - N/A

Arrived too late to make an impact.
