Watford have made contact with Burnley regarding a possible loan deal for Matej Vyrda.

The Watford Observer understands that discussions have taken place between the two sides over a possible move, but the Clarets are reluctant to let the striker leave.

Sources close to Vydra have said he is hoping to depart Turf Moor and find more game time elsewhere, but that Sean Dyche is keen to hold onto the player as a back up striking option.

A number of clubs, including Watford's promotion rivals Bournemouth, have made contact over the player's availability, but until now Burnley have been happy to rebuff any offers.

Watford Observer:

However, with the player keen to head out, they are now more willing to listen to approaches, but would like to have a replacement lined up before any deal can be arranged.

There is also currently a disagreement over the type of deal that both sides are hoping for, with Watford interested in a loan but Burnley only really interested in selling the player.

Should an agreement be reached, it would see Vydra return for a third spell with the club, after he played at Vicarage Road from 2012-13 and 2014-16.

During those two previous spells, he scored a total of 38 goals in 95 games, provoding 15 assists.
