Helen Ward insists she remains committed to Watford FC Women despite being allowed to join the London Bees on a dual registration basis.

Ward came off the bench during the Bees' 4-2 defeat to Sheffield United at the weekend as she looks to continue playing while the Hornets' season has been put on hold due to national coronavirus restrictions.

Elite sport protocols, have meant that the Women's National League season has been suspended, but the Women’s Super League and FA Women’s Championship has been allowed to continue.

The opportunity arose for Ward to join the Bees and continue to get game time while none is on offer with Watford.

Speaking to the club website, the Watford captain reiterated her commitment to the Golden Girls, but said the move would help her with her international aspirations.

“I’m very grateful to Lee Burch and London Bees for allowing me to dual sign on a temporary basis,” said Ward. “They have a squad full of talented players and if I can help in any way while I’m there I would be delighted to do so.

“I am very much committed to Watford. I have international aspirations to consider and by training and playing regularly with Bees, I hope to be in a good position if selected for Wales over the next few weeks.

“The players and staff at London Bees have been very welcoming and I look forward to working with them during my time at the club. Beyond this, I hope everyone is staying safe and I look forward getting back to London Colney and Kings Langley with all the team at Watford as soon as we can.”
