Xisco Munoz is hoping Watford can rediscover their strong defensive performances after a rise in the number of goals they have conceded in recent weeks.

The Hornets kept seven clean sheets out of the head coach's first 11 games in all competitions, conceding just five times, but have since let in four goals in their last three fixtures.

Munoz explained that the extra goals against have come as a result of taking risks in attack, but said it was important for his side to retain their balance and stay as tight as they can.

"We need to try every day and every game try and get a clean sheet," said Munoz. "It's important for us because it's important for our balance. Also, we know that we sometimes play against good teams and sometimes it's difficult.

"I think we have a good balance with our clean sheets, but we need to continue. We need every day to try to get the good tactics to have good things in defence but also, sometimes we need to take the risk because sometimes we need to play more in attack, in the other half of the pitch. And sometimes when you have this, you have a little problem.

"I think we are working on this situation and we need to continue with the same level because I think we have good numbers."

Following Saturday's defeat at Bournemouth that cancelled out their four-game winning streak, Watford have to build again from the beginning, starting against Wycombe Wanderers tomorrow night.

That match is followed up by another home game against Nottingham Forest at the weekend, before the team has a full week to prepare for a trip to Wales to face Cardiff City.

Munoz knows the home matches are a good place to start another run of victories and expects his players to turn out strong performances now they have adapted to his new system.

"I think we have two important games," he said. "I think the team now needs to understand the different situations because everybody understands now what's our system, what are our tactics and every day, we need to try to change different things and try to change different spaces and different timings of the games.

"We have two important games. All the games are difficult games. We know we have a big ambition to try to take maximum points and we are all ready to put all our focus in the next game."
