Watford will assess the fitness of influential winger Ismaila Sarr ahead of this weekend’s match against Birmingham City.

The Senegalese international left the field early in the second half during the 4-1 win over Rotherham United on Tuesday night and could be set to miss this weekend’s important match against a side battling to avoid relegation.

Sarr has nine goals from 33 appearances in all competitions this season and prior to his substitution at the New York Stadium had played every single minute of the previous 18 matches.

In fact, of the 33 games he has played in this season, the 23-year-old has only not finished three games.

Elsewhere Christian Kabasele is back in contention after returning to full-team training last weekend.

The Belgian has recovered from a bruised knee bone that has ruled him out of action since December.

He is yet to make an appearance under head coach Xisco Munoz.

Captain Troy Deeney continues to recover from achilles tendon damage, while Tom Cleverley is back running outside and the club have confirmed that he is hopeful of returning by Easter weekend, when the Hornets face Middlesbrough away from home.

Tom Dele-Bashiru is working full-time on his rehabilitation following an operation to repair the anterior cruciate ligament damage he sustained in October away at Reading, although it is not known if he will be able to make an appearance this season.
