Craig Dawson will join West Ham on a permanent deal at the end of the season.

Dawson, 30, is currently on loan at the Hammers from Watford and has made 15 Premier League appearances for the London club.

West Ham announced the deal this afternoon, which was triggered after clauses within the terms of his loan were met.

The defender, who has signed a contract with West Ham until the summer of 2023, told the club website: "Coming to West Ham has been a great move for myself, and it is a privilege to play for a club with such rooted traditions.

"The squad has a real togetherness, team spirit and great quality. I’m excited for what my future at the club may hold and the potential for what we as a club can go on to achieve."

West Ham manager David Moyes said: "Craig’s performances, attitude and the impact he’s had demonstrate why he deserves a permanent deal.

"He had to be patient but he’s come in and grabbed his opportunity with both hands. We are always looking to improve the squad and Craig joining us permanently certainly does that."

Before joining West Ham, Dawson made more than 30 appearances for Watford, arriving from West Brom in 2019.

A statement on Watford's club website read: "Watford FC confirms defender Craig Dawson will sign a permanent contract with West Ham United at the end of this season, after clauses within the terms of his loan were met.

"The centre-half joined the Hornets in July 2019 and made 31 appearances for the club, scoring two goals against Leicester City and Norwich City.

"He moved to the London Stadium on a season-long loan in October 2020 and has since made 17 appearances in all competitions for David Moyes' side.

"We wish Craig all the best for the remainder of his career."
