Xisco Munoz said Watford's response to Saturday's defeat at Luton was "brilliant" as they beat league leaders Norwich City 1-0 away from home.

The Hornets outplayed the already-promoted side who sit at the top of the Championship as they took a significant step towards joining them in the top flight next season.

After the match, the head coach said the loss at the weekend had just been a bad day and that the win over the Canaries was one for the fans to enjoy.

"Sometimes it's like this," said Munoz. "It's a bad day, you know. We just needed to forget it in our mind and we needed to learn about the last mistakes and prepare for the next game.

"This is our always our mentality. We know it was not our best game, we spoke about this after the game, but the most important was that the response today of the guys was brilliant and I think this is very good for our fans because our fans I think today enjoyed our performance."

In order to get the response he needed, Munoz shuffled his pack and made four changes to the team that disappointed on Saturday.

One of the players he brought in, Dan Gosling, eventually provided the winning strike in the second half after missing a hatful of opportunities in the first.

Munoz praised the midfielder for not giving up.

"The most important is he did not stop," he said. "Sometimes they have mistakes but we need people to keep going and going and continue, continue, continue and you believe in the next chances because football is like this is.

"The problem is when they don't arrive in the box.

"For me Dan was perfect today because he tried one time, two times, three times, four times and after he receive the goal. This is a very good mentality for our players and when you have this mentality, we have more options to score the goals."
