As long as the Championship title is a possibility, Watford are going to try and win it, claims Dan Gosling.

The midfielder scored the winner against already-promoted Norwich City on Tuesday night, preventing the Canaries from cementing top spot and giving the Hornets a chance of usurping them before the end of the season.

Watford could seal their own promotion to the Premier League on Saturday if they beat Millwall, before finishing their Championship campaign with two difficult matches against Brentford and Swansea City.

The former Bournemouth man said that the aim for Watford was to win all three of their remaining games and, if possible, return to the top flight as champions.

“We’ve got three huge games to come,” Gosling told Sky Sports after Tuesday's win.

“We’re going for the three points against Millwall. It’s another tough game, like they all are. We’re full of confidence and [beating Norwich] is a huge boost . It would be nice [to seal promotion on Saturday] but we’re ready for the challenge ahead.

“While the title is a possibility, we’ll go for it. We want to win the remaining three games, so we’ll see where that takes us. But we’re just concentrating on one game at a time.”

Gosling's winning strike came in the second half after an opening 45 minutes in which he squandered a number of good opportunities.

The 31-year-old was disappointed with his finishing and said the scoreline should have been more one-sided than it ended up being.

“I had three or four in the first half,” he said. “I didn’t connect with one of them which I should have, and I had a couple of shots from the edge of the box which just went over the bar. So I’m slightly disappointed with that, but to get on the end of probably the scrappiest one, that’s always the way.

“If we’d taken one or two chances in the first half, I think it would have been game done within 45 minutes, but it wasn’t to be. We stuck at it, stuck together. There were some huge blocks in the last 5-10 minutes. There was a real team spirit, a real togetherness.”
