Xisco Munoz was disappointed to lose out on his dream of claiming the Championship title after Watford were beaten by Brentford and is now focused on preparing for the Premier League.

The Hornets boss congratulated Norwich City who were crowned champions after the Canaries beat Reading, while Watford found themselves on the end of a loss at the Brentford Community Stadium.

However, the head coach thinks his players have shown enough over the last few months to suggest they can do well come next season.

"This is my dream," said Munoz about the title. "We tried to give this ambition, but the team has showed me the last four months this mentality, this passion and every day work very hard to give the best for the team, for the club, for everyone.

"I can say congrats for Norwich for the title and because they are a very good team. We are working very hard to try to give the same very good things next year."

On the day, two second half goals divided the two teams and Munoz admitted it was difficult to get his side to play with the same intensity they have shown throughout this season, but said he was not disappointed with his players' efforts.

"I'm not disappointed because I know how difficult it is to put everyone in the game with the intensity but it's true we came into the game in a good attitude, we were very good in the first minutes, we had good things, but then we started with injuries and we need to change something about this.

"We didn't score and we can just congrats to Brentford."
