Watford achieved their target of promotion to the Premier League in only their first season in the Championship following relegation.
Here we take a look back at photos from the season and remember some of the key moments from the successful campaign.
The Hornets started their season with Serbian head coach Vladimir Ivic at the helm. He was brought in to strenghten a leaky defence that had caused a number of problems during the previous campaign.
Things started well for Watford with a home win against Middlesbrough - Craig Cathcart scored the only goal of that game.
The next victory came at home to rivals Luton Town, with Joao Pedro scoring his first goal for Watford on his 19th birthday.
The win came after Newport County had knocked the Hornets out of the Carabao Cup.
Tom Dele-Bashiru damages his ACL as Watford are beaten for the first time in the season away at then league leaders Reading.
Joao Pedro celebrates a wonder strike that clinched a late win against Derby County.
While things were going well at home, on the road it was another matter - Alex Mowatt's screamer for Barnsley added further cause for concern.
Sarr scores a late penalty against Blackburn, just three days after scoring a late winner against Stoke City to seal two back-to-back 3-2 victories at Vicarage Road, maintaining good home form.
Vladimir Ivic is sacked on December 19 following an away defeat at Huddersfield Town in which captain Troy Deeney was left on the bench for "disciplinary reasons". The striker maintains that he is still not sure why Ivic left him out.
The club goes in a different direction, appointing Spaniard Xisco Munoz to take charge for the remainder of the season. It's undoubtedly a gamble, with the relatively inexperienced coach joining the club having only taken charge of 11 matches in the Georgian League with Dinamo Tbilisi.
Ismaila Sarr scores the only goal of the game as the Hornets beat promotion rivals Norwich City in Munoz's first game in charge.
A dismal performance in a 0-0 away at Coventry has fans questioning Munoz's appointment, as Watford struggle to find their feet since his arrival.
After the match, defender William Troost-Ekong arranges a meeting between the whole squad to discuss the problems they are having.
The next game sees a change of formation to a 4-3-3 that gets the best out of the midfield and the attackers. The Hornets run riot against Bristol City, winning 6-0, sparking a four-match winning streak.
Promotion rivals Bournemouth put a stop to the winning run, beating Watford 1-0 at the Vitality Stadium in a match in which tempers flared and both Joao Pedro and Jack Wilshere were sent off.
Munoz's men respond with an eight-game unbeaten run, in which they won seven and drew just once, with Ismaila Sarr staging a one-man goal of the season competition in a 2-0 win against Reading in the last of those matches.
Just as promotion is starting to look certain, rivals Luton Town produce a 1-0 win over the Hornets at Kenilworth Road, with Kiko Femenia sent off during a lacklustre display.
Munoz gets another response out of his players, who defeat already-promoted Norwich for a second time in the season, with Dan Gosling scoring the only goal of the match.
Promotion is sealed with two games to spare, with a 1-0 home win over Millwall.
Isaac Success puts the cherry on the cake at the end of the season, scoring a magnificent goal in the final moments against Swansea on the final day.
