A late fightback from Croxley Community Reserves wasn’t enough to see them through to the West Herts League Junior Cup final as they were beaten 5-4 by Chesham United Generals.

The Division One champions looked to be heading for a heavier defeat as they trailed 3-0 heading into the final 20 minutes through goals from Nico Rasura, Toby Lyons and Sam Ivory.

However, Croxley found some late fire in their belly as they scored three goals, including an injury-time equaliser, to take the game into extra-time.

Chesham then fought back with two goals from Ewan Philpot in the first additional period to gain the advantage once more but a superb free-kick bought Croxley back into the game.

The Generals worked hard in a nail-biting finish to hold Croxley at bay, eventually winning through to reach their first ever final.

Jake Woolcott, Joe Perrin, Robbie Martin and Harry Brock were the scorers for Croxley.

There was another high-scoring game in the other semi-final as Sun Sports Rovers went down 5-3 at the hands of Hemel Hempstead Rovers A.

Sun played up the slope and generally bossed the first half, scoring midway through it to lead 1-0 at the break.

However, Hemel came out fighting, soon equalising and then taking the lead.

Sun were struggling to find their first-half sharpness but levelled with a long-range shot.

Rovers still kept up the pressure and netted twice more, before both teams managed a further goal apiece to complete the scoring.

Ellis North led the way for Hemel with a hat-trick, with Paulo Ditri and manager Kenny Harrington also on target. Jake Makamian (2) and Glen Cook replied for Sun.
