Watford winger Ignacio Pussetto has spoken of his desire to stay in Italy with Udinese beyond this season.

Last month The Watford Observer revealed that the forward was expected to make his move back to the Serie A side a permanent one and now the player has said that is what he would like to happen.

After arriving at Vicarage Road from Udinese midway through the Hornets' relegation campaign, he struggled to force his way into the matchday squad, despite making a vital clearance off the line with his first touch of the ball in a Watford shirt against Tottenham Hotspur.

He was sent back to Italy on loan at the beginning of the recently-finished season after featuring in the 0-0 draw with Sheffield Wednesday and the 3-1 league cup defeat at Newport County.

Things went well initially for Pussetto after his return, as he scored four goals in 15 appearances, but his season was ended prematurely by an anterior cruciate ligament problem, from which he is still recovering.

He now has his focus on recovery, but wants to pick up where he left off, in the same division and the same country, when he is able to play again.

"Personally, I want to continue in Italy, to continue making a career in Europe and hopefully I can continue to grow there and come back well from this injury," he told El Espectador Deportes 100.1.

"When I was just injured, the first days were very difficult, because of the operation. The pain was intense, but it's made worse by thinking that it will be a long time that you are off the pitch.

"As the days go by, one becomes more focused to try to recover in the best possible way.

"Today I am in the final stage of recovery, it was difficult to look at my teammates from the outside and not be able to play. But now my mind is focused on pre-season, joining my teammates and starting training again to get a good start to the league."
