Xisco Munoz has been impressed with his Watford players after they navigated their way through two more behind-closed-doors pre-season friendlies at the weekend.
After beating Millwall at their training ground last week, two different Hornets XIs beat two sides from Colchester United, 2-1 and 2-0, and the head coach said it was a sign that his players were preparing for the upcoming Premier League campaign with the right attitude.
“Everyone worked very hard. I’m very happy with the players because we’ve had high intensity for three weeks,” said Munoz in a club interview.
“It’s always important to try and win these games. The most important thing is that we continue with the same attitude because it is perfect.”
Adding to Munoz's good mood was the work of academy players who stepped up and played their part in the friendly matches.
The Spaniard said they showed that they could be counted on in the future.
“We had very good actions, the players showed talent, played very well and they understand what we want,” he said.
“Congrats to the guys, in the three weeks they’ve worked very hard and they had a strong mentality.
“The players coming and working with us [from the Academy] are ready. This is very comforting for a manager because if sometimes you need some players, every time they give you their best and they showed it today in the game.”
