Watford will go into the 2021/22 Premier League season with a point to prove, with bookies making them favourites for relegation.

Bookmakers SkyBet have odds of just 11/10 for the Hornets to go straight back to the Championship at the end of the upcoming campaign, although some other bookmakers have marked fellow promoted side Norwich City as the most likely to go down.

Additionally, head coach Xisco Munoz is the favourite to leave his role first this season, with SkyBet offering 6/1 on the Spaniard departing before any other Premier League boss.

This will no doubt be in part due to the club's reputation for removing head coaches, however fair that might be, with the season before last seeing three men given the chop, as Watford were relegated from the top flight.

The upcoming campaign promises to be a tough one for the club, but additions have been brought in to improve the overall quality of the squad.

Nine players in total have arrived, while Cucho Hernandez is more or less a tenth new signing, having never kicked a ball for the Hornets prior to pre-season.

Watford Observer:

If they are to defy the bookies, they will need things to click pretty quickly for the new arrivals, while established players need to prove that they are Premier League quality.

However, if Xisco Munoz can harness the team spirit and togetherness that saw them make light work of the second half of their season in the Championship, they should have more than a fighting chance of staying in the top flight, from where they can continue to build towards a brighter future.
