Watford progressed to the third round of the Carabao Cup with a 1-0 win over Crystal Palace on Tuesday evening.

After a drab first half, the Hornets improved in the second and snatched a late winner to prevent penalties and ensure they are in the hat for the next round.

Here's how we rated their individual performances.

Ben Foster - 6.5

A commanding performance in goal. Made a couple of big stops too.

Jeremy Ngakia - 5

Struggled with Zaha during the first half. No surprise to see him taken off.

William Troost-Ekong - 6.5

Solid in the centre, made one superb block in the first half.

Francisco Sierralta - 6

A strong return to action.

Danny Rose - 7

Linked up really well with Cucho Hernandez in the build up to the goal. Looked decent considering how long he's been away from first-team football.

Peter Etebo - 6

A much stronger performance than at the weekend. Did well in the centre.

Imran Louza - 5.5

Much improved in the second half. Needs to work on his final pass, however.

Ken Sema - 5

Doesn't really suit the position he was played in. Struggled to get into the game.

Cucho Hernandez - 6

Worked his socks off throughout and played a great ball for the goal.

Ashley Fletcher - 6.5

Didn't do a lot during the game and missed a couple of good opportunities, but scored when it mattered.

Joshua King - 5.5

Not the brightest half of football. Needs time to build confidence I think.

SUBS

Emmanuel Dennis - 7

Completely changed the face of the game. Brought some much-needed threat and directness to Watford's attack/

Kiko Femenia - 5.5

Made a couple of clumsy fouls. Needs a bit more time to get back to his best after his injury.

Tom Cleverley - N/A

Players need to have played for 15 minutes or more to get a rating.
