Old photos of Vicarage Road are being sought as Watford continue preparations to celebrate 100 years in their much-changed stadium in August 2022.

Together with the club, a group of supporters have been working on a whole range of activities to commemorate this milestone. Many supporters have already sent in stories, pictures and memorabilia but there’s always room for more.

The fascinating picture at the top of this page is of Vicarage Road Stadium in 1927 and was donated to Watford Museum. The Vic100 team are hoping fans may have more images like this.

The group are interested in photos taken either professionally or personally by fans or by others visiting the stadium on projects related the club.

With just one year to go maybe you can help the Vic100 team by checking through your cupboards, delving into your drawers, looking in your lofts to see what pictures you have that we might form part of the celebrations next year.

Watford Observer:

The team want shots that show the stadium rather than photos just of match action – especially from the earlier periods in the stadium’s development.

  • Have you got photographs from a news agency?
  • Did you take photographs at an Open Day, the Fireworks, Play on the Pitch, a Fan Appreciation Day?
  • Have you got pictures of things that aren’t there anymore – the supporters’ club, the programme hut, early turnstiles, the old floodlights?
  • Have you got any video clips of the stadium?

If you have, scan them or snap them on your phone and email them to vic100@watfordfc.com - or send them by post to Vic 100 Watford FC, Vicarage Road Stadium Watford WD18 0ER if you don’t have email.

The team will review them and contact you again if they’d like to take them further and consider them for use for which full acknowledgements will be given.

Get digging and who knows, you might unearth treasures like the one above that can help your local club celebrate this significant centenary.
