Xisco Munoz could only describe Watford's Carabao Cup defeat to Stoke City as "incredible" after his side peppered the visitors' goal, but failed to find a winner.

The Hornets recovered after going behind in the first half and looked much more likely to score the decisive goal, but the Potters netted twice late on to knock their hosts out of the competition.

"I think today is incredible," said Munoz after the game.

"Today the game was perfect, but the keeper saved incredible balls, we hit the post, we missed chances. Sometimes it happens in football and we need to keep going. The positive is that everyone worked very hard.

"Sure, it was another chance, but sometimes it's incredible like this in football.

"I think in the second half we had control of the game, we had I don't know how many chances, but I can only think we can say it was an incredible game, I have no other words about this."

The first goal of the match came after a mistake from full back Jeremy Ngakia but Munoz still felt the defender played well, despite the error.

He is now focusing on helping the defender regain confidence on the training pitch tomorrow.

"In football always you can make mistakes," he said. "But Jeremy has a very good level and this sometimes happens. It doesn't matter, he will keep going and tomorrow will work very hard."
