A teenage brother and sister have been crowned champions of a televised mixed martial arts talent search.

Kashif, 18, and Aliysha Shahzad, 19, both from Watford, will star in a PRIM3 (their promoter) fly-on-the-wall documentary series building up to their three months training and their bouts against fierce competitors.

The MMA TV ‘find a star’ winners delivered knockout performances at the RDX Cagefit Gym in Watford.

They saw off more than 20 shortlisted candidates during three bootcamps, after completing a 10 week set training programme.

Now the teenagers have both won a five fight contract with PRIM3, a long-term contract with Mogul Management, and a one year sponsorship deal with RDX Sports.

Mr Shahzad said: “My sister and I have been training in MMA since we were 5 years old and it’s given us the confidence to have faith in our ability, knowing we can outwork anybody in a fight.

“Our strong mindset and work ethic has helped us throughout the contest and it feels great to have come out on top.”

His sister said: “MMA is in our blood and me and my brother have fought hard to get to this position. It’s incredible to think the team will now be behind us as we approach our first professional fights and we’re both hungry for the journey ahead.”

Siju Roseje, the MMA TV founder and judge said he was “blown away” by the standard in the competition.

He said: “Aliysha and Kashif both have the full package, with their charisma and belief matching their abilities and style.

“We will be offering them and the runners up our full support as they enter the exhilarating world of professional MMA.”
