Watford defender William Troost-Ekong provided an assist as Nigeria avenged their shock defeat to the Central African Republic yesterday.

The Super Eagles were beaten 1-0 in their home match against the same opponents in their World Cup qualification campaign on Thursday, but picked up a 2-0 win in the reverse fixture.

Defender Leon Balogun made up for his mistake that led to the only goal in the game on Thursday before Troost-Ekong crossed from the right for Victor Osimhen to double the lead.

Elsewhere Ozan Tufan played the best part of an hour in Turkey's 1-1 draw with Norway on Friday evening before he was substituted.

Juraj Kucka lasted a little longer than Tufan in Slovakia's 1-0 defeat to Russia on the same night.

On Saturday night Ismaila Sarr provided an assist for Famara Diedhiou in Senegal's comfortable 4-1 win over Namibia, while Daniel Bachmann kept a clean sheet as Austria beat the Faroe Islands 2-0 and Imran Louza was involved in Morocco's 3-0 win away at Guinea Bissau.

Craig Cathcart played 90 minutes for Northern Ireland as they suffered defeat at the hands of Switzerland.

Meanwhile, Ken Sema and Pontus Dahlberg were unused substitutes for Sweden, who won 3-0 against Kosovo.
