Liverpool midfielder Fabinho has said he and goalkeeper Alisson Becker are not expecting to play against Watford this weekend.

The Brazilian duo are away on international duty and are due to face Uruguay at 1.30am (UK time) on Friday.

After that match, they would have to dash back to England in time for the early 12.30pm kick off against the Hornets at Vicarage Road.

The Hornets reportedly rejected a request from Liverpool to rearrange kick off time in order to accommodate the two players, saying it would not be fair to fans who had already made plans for the lunchtime start.

As a result it looks like neither will be able to play, with Fabinho stating as much in a press conference.

"I believe that this first match against Watford, it will be very hard for us," said the midfielder. "I don't think we'll play. Neither Alisson nor myself.

"The match against Uruguay will be Friday overnight there (in the United Kingdom) and the match against Watford is at 12:30pm (Saturday).

"With all of what is involved with travel, I don't know how much time we'll have between one game and the other.

"I believe that we won't be playing."

The duo will added to a list of Liverpool players expected to miss out, with Diogo Jota not expected to play after he was released from international duty with Portugal early due to a muscle injury.

Thiago Alcantara is also expected to miss out, as is Curtis Jones, although Jurgen Klopp has had some good news with Trent Alexander-Arnold returning to training.

The England right-back missed the last two matches with a groin problem but was pictured at the club’s training base working alongside members of the first-team squad who are also not on international duty.
