A martial arts school in Watford has offered a woman free self-defence classes after she was assaulted by a man during a night out.

The victim, who wished to remain unnamed, was grabbed by the arm and told "you're coming with me" while walking past The Moon Under Water pub.

Police are investigating and having reviewed CCTV footage have identified a suspect and scheduled an interview.

Following the assault Watford Gracie Jiu-Jitsu has offered her access to its Women Empowered classes tailored for ladies.

The school is also offering kids and adults a free 10-day trial and is urging women to learn how to defend themselves.

Head instructor Ben Tippen said: “We want to help people because we know these kinds of things are going on – we hear stories all the time, and ones which are a lot worse that involve children as well."

Following the assault on Friday, October 8, the victim claimed a similar thing had happened to "many girls" and wanted people to be aware of it.

The suspect is described as around 5”6, dark skinned, was wearing a grey hooded popper jacket, skinny jeans and Nike trainers, and looked around 30 years old.

Herts Police officers acknowledged concerns of multiple reports of a man matching the description but confirmed they have not received or linked any previous report to the suspect.

Officers are continuing to investigate the incident's circumstances.
