Oxhey Jets’ upturn in fortunes continued under new manager Kevin Christou as they held leaders Risborough Rangers to a 2-2 draw last night in torrential rain, but once again there were questions about the players’ self-discipline after being reduced to ten men for the fourth game running.

A goal in each half from Kyal Williams ensured Jets extended their unbeaten run to four games with eight points from the last available 12 to move up to 14th in the Spartan South Midlands League.

Jets boss Kevin Christou

The fact that has been achieved is testament to the impact Christou has had since arriving at the Boundary Stadium, given that a player has been sent off in each of those four matches.

The Jets hierarchy have every justification for asking when the players will learn their lesson, given three of the four dismissals have involved a yellow card for kicking the ball away.

Lewis Todd produced an impressive debut in goal for Jets, but once again the hosts were forced to hang on for the final 15 minutes following the red card.

Jets will be hoping to keep their good run going on Saturday when they visit Harpenden Town.
