Everton boss Rafa Benitez has warned his players that Watford will not make things easy for them this weekend.

The Hornets make the trip to Goodison Park on Saturday, a stadium in which they have never won before, with the hosts' boss keen not to lose that record.

The Toffees go into the match on the back of a defeat to West Ham United and the former Real Madrid, Liverpool and Newcastle manager is looking for a reaction.

“It won’t be easy against Watford," Benitez told the club website.

"It never is in the Premier League, but it is a chance for us to show a good reaction and do better.

"We gave away possession in some situations that allowed West Ham the chance to continue moving the ball and managing the game.

“Then you have to continue defending and can be more tired.

“The next game will be an opportunity to do well and, hopefully, we can play at the level we reached in previous matches.”

Benitez will not be the only coach going into this weekend's match hoping for a response, with Ranieri promising improvement from Watford's submissive display against Liverpool.

"Now I know much better my players because I met all my players two days ago," the Italian said on Saturday.

"During the last 10 days I watched the training session of my players but of course the truth is on the pitch against big teams. Now I know them very very well.

"Defeats are always difficult, but I'm a very positive man and I watched very well my players today. I watched where we have to improve and from next week, we will start to improve."
