Claudio Ranieri will restore Ismaila Sarr to the wing after his experiment against Liverpool failed to pay off.

The head coach played the club's record signing through the centre as a striker rather than out on the flank where he has proven to be most effective.

Speaking ahead of this weekend's trip to Everton, the Italian said he realised that was a mistake and that he realises Sarr is most effective out wide.

"I think his best position is right winger," said Ranieri. "I tried to put him very close to centre backs of Liverpool and attack on their shoulder but it wasn’t possible for us and at the end of the second half I put him in his position, he’s much better there.

"He knows very well what he can do and I want to give him all the confidence."

Another position that could see change in the near future is that of the goalkeeper, although Ben Foster will remain in place for now.

It has been a difficult week for the goalkeeper after one of his friends was ejected by stewards at Vicarage Road at the weekend, but Ranieri played down frustrations from within the club regarding his YouTube channel, but said Daniel Bachmann would still get chances this season.

"Ben, in training sessions and on the pitch during matches always concentrates," the head coach said.

"He’s over 30-years-old and thinking about the future. Well done to him, he's a great actor, he's a great goalkeeper and that’s it.

"Now it’s his position but I’m sure also Bachmann could go back in the goal. Let me see everything. I don’t like to change a lot of players and the goalkeepers have a very different psychological mentality."

Ranieri doubled down on his need to see a reaction from his team this weekend, after saying they could not have played any worse against Liverpool.

He believes how they respond to negative moments will have a bigger bearing on their season.

"Every time, I tell my players it’s important the feeling between me and them and I will give to them all my experience, all my support," he said.

"For me it’s not important if they make mistakes, everyone makes mistakes, it's important how they react – I want to see how they react against Everton."
