Juraj Kucka hopes Watford's sensational 5-2 win at Everton was indicative of the club's trajectory and that more positive performances will follow.

The Slovak scored his first goal for the Hornets since arriving in the Premier League, with Joshua King's hat-trick and a goal for Emmanuel Dennis sealing an important victory.

While he was pleased to score for his new club, the 34-year-old said the performance was the most pleasing aspect of the match.

“The feeling was amazing,” Kucka said in a club interview. “I am very happy for my first goal but I am more happy for our performance as a team because we played like a team.

“We saw a few things that we tried at the training ground during the week.

“What we have to do is improve now day-by-day in every training session and show it on the pitch.

“We managed to show something today, but there’s still a long way to go and we’re all excited to see what we can go on and achieve.”

After twice going behind, it looked luck might not have been on Watford's side during the match, but a madcap final 15 minutes saw the visitors find the net four times to completely turn things around.

Kucka has urged his teammates to find that level of determination in every match going forward.

“I hope there will be more goals but we have to keep fighting and improve in every training session, every match," he said.

“We played like a team, this is the spirit, this is what we have to do in every single game.”
