Watford have announced the signing of Samir from Udinese.

The Brazilian centre back has been with the fellow Pozzo-owned club since 2016 and has made 147 appearances for them in that time, scoring six goals and providing four assists.

The 27-year-old is a left-footed defender and traditionally plays in the centre, although has been known to play on the left too.

He will be able to provide cover in both positions, with Danny Rose told today that he is no longer in the club's plans.

He becomes the club's second January signing, with Hassane Kamara already through the door.

Central midfielder Edo Kayembe from Belgian side KAS Eupen is also expected to be announced soon.

Talks also continue with Besiktas over Croatian international Domagoj Vida, with the Turkish side keen to get the veteran off their wage bill.

Sources close to the player initially expected that to be done sooner rather than later, however it appears some work needs to be done on it just yet.
