Watford have confirmed the return of goalkeeper Ben Foster after a groin injury, while Emmanuel Dennis, Kiko Femenia and Christian Kabasele will all undergo late fitness tests ahead of this weekend’s match against Newcastle United.

Foster has not played since November, but could be in line for a return to the first team, who travel to Tyneside on Friday ahead of their crucial relegation battle.

Meanwhile Dennis was substituted during the home defeat to Tottenham Hotspur and missed the FA Cup tie away at Leicester City due to a knock.

Head coach Claudio Ranieri said after the game at the Foxes that he expected to have the striker back this weekend.

The Nigerian is the club’s top scorer so far this season with eight goals and has stayed with the Hornets this month, despite getting a call up to represent the Super Eagles at the African Cup of Nations.

Femenia has been absent since the 4-1 defeat to West Ham, while Kabasele has not played since the 1-0 defeat to Leeds United back in October, due to a hamstring injury.

Having the four players back could be vital for Watford, who face three relegation rivals within six days, with games against Burnley and Norwich City to follow the trip to Newcastle.

New arrivals Samir, Hassane Kamara and Edo Kayembe are all available too.
