Claudio Ranieri has said he wants to see more from his Watford players after they snatched a point late on at Newcastle United.

The Hornets trailed until the 87th minute when Joao Pedro headed in a cross from Kiko Femenia to take away what could be a vital point from St James' Park.

However, Ranieri was not overly enthused by what he saw from his side and said they put in an anxious performance.

"In the first half, their threat was only on the set pieces, and they touched the crossbar," said Ranieri.

"In our counter attack we weren’t so calm, to try to do the best last pass or the assist. In the second half, they created just chances from our mistakes and we create two or three great chances before scoring the goal. I'm very happy because my players made some very good combinations, but of course I want more from my players.

"I know what they can do, I’m happy but it's half and half.

"In the first half, we were waiting. I want more, they can do more and I can understand after six losses in a row, maybe they are a bit more anxious.

"I hope this point could turn on more electricity, more confidence and more belief."

The game saw new arrivals Hassane Kamara, Edo Kayembe and Samir all handed debuts, as the club looks to address their leaky defence.

The head coach thanked the club for bringing them in as quickly as they did.

"They were fantastic, all three fantastic," he said. "They give us more personality, more quality and for their debuts it was fantastic.

"I want to say thanks to club to sign these players early in the transfer window."
