Burnley have requested that their game against Watford at Turf Moor tomorrow evening is postponed.
The Clarets' game against Leicester City was called off at the weekend because they were unable to field enough players and they appear to be in a similar situation ahead of tomorrow's scheduled game.
A statement on their club website reads: "Burnley Football Club can confirm it has made an application to the Premier League for the postponement of Tuesday night’s match at home to Watford.
The decision was reluctantly made to submit the application due to a high number of injuries and Covid-19 cases within the squad."
Messages from Burnley this morning were positive and the Watford Observer was told it was "all systems go" before Claudio Ranieri faced the media.
However, half an hour before Sean Dyche was due to do the same, the Premier League announced that they had received a request from the Lancashire club.
The league has subsequently announced it will meet later to review the situation.
Should tomorrow's match be postponed, it would be the second time the fixture has been called off, with Watford requesting the first one be postponed due to a number of positive Covid tests within their camp.
