Oxhey Jets moved up to eighth in the Spartan South Midlands Premier Division table after extending their winning start to 2022 with a 3-2 victory over Harefield United last night.

Jake Tabor’s second-half brace following Sean Giordmaina’s equaliser in the opening period saw the home side make it three wins out of three this month, scoring ten goals in the process.

Harefield started the better and deservedly took the lead, but their hosts grew into the contest and got back on terms when Giordmaina fired home a loose ball in the penalty area.

The hard-fought nature of the contest continued into the second half, but it was Jets who took control after they started to push on.

Their positive approach was rewarded when Tabor ended a winding run by slotting past the keeper.

Rather than try and sit on their lead, the home side remained on the front foot, but it was a counter-attack that led to the third goal as Tom Inch’s defence-splitting pass allowed Tabor to round the keeper for his second of the night.

Jets expected an onslaught and that was what they got, but they held out until Harefield scored a consolation from a late corner.
