Hassane Kamara has been rewarded for his performances at Watford with a call up to the Ivory Coast squad for the upcoming international break.

The left back missed out on the African Cup of Nations, despite featuring in World Cup qualifying matches towards the end of last year.

However, the improvements he has brought to the Hornets' defence have not gone unnoticed and he has been brought back in.

One of the two matches he could be involved in is at Wembley against England on March 29, after a game against France at the Stade Velodrome on March 25.

He will not be the only Watford player representing an African Nation during the break, with Ismaila Sarr's return to training this week resulting in him receiving a call up for Senegal's squad for their matches against Egypt, with their announcement officially made earlier this morning (Friday).

The winger was able to take part in training earlier this week after recovering from the hamstring problem that kept him out of Watford's last three matches.

Given his recent absence, manager Roy Hodgson said he would be reluctant to see him travel to play with his national side, as he feels it could risk aggravating the injury.

Speaking after the win at Southampton on Sunday, Hodgson said of Sarr: "I don't really know when he'll be passed fit to go out on the field and and train properly, but there's a big risk of course that that will happen before Senegal call and ask him to meet up and, if they do that, then we are obliged to let him go, which is another minor disappointment.

"It would have been nice if we could have had him with us, but we're not going to cheat. If he's fit, we will tell them he's fit and it'll be up to them to decide whether they are going to call him up. But it'd be a bit risky for us.

"If he stays with us, we can control his training, but if he goes to his national team, the chances of aggravating the injury is a bit greater."

Meanwhile, Emmanuel Dennis, Peter Etebo and William Troost-Ekong have all been called up for Nigeria's World Cup play-offs against Ghana, alongside goalkeeper Maduka Okoye, who is currently out on loan at Sparta Rotterdam.

Elsewhere, Adam Masina and Imran Louza will be involved in Morocco's squad for their crucial matches against DR Congo, as they also fight for one of the five African slots available for the Qatar World Cup. They could find themselves up against teammate Edo Kayembe, although no squad has been revealed for his nation as of yet.

Away from the Hornets' African contingent, Joshua King has been selected to represent Norway in their friendly matches against Slovakia and Armenia, while Craig Cathcart is expected to be involved in Northern Ireland's games against Luxembourg and Hungary.

In more competitive matters, Daniel Bachmann has been selected by Austria for their World Cup play-off semi-final against Wales on Thursday, March 24.

Ken Sema's lack of game time has been reflected in Janne Andersson's decision to leave him out of the Sweden squad for their World Cup play-off semi-final against the Czech Republic, while it remains to be seen if the same will happen to Francisco Sierralta, with Chile due to play Brazil and Uruguay in World Cup qualifiers.
