Watford's game against Burnley at Vicarage Road will be refereed by Craig Pawson, the Premier League has confirmed.

The official has overseen two Hornets' matches this season, including the 0-0 draw at Turf Moor in the reverse fixture and the 3-2 home defeat to Arsenal.

Prior to the game at Burnley, Pawson previously refereed the 2-1 win over Newcastle United during the 2019/20 campaign, as well as four other games involving the Hornets, including both a draw and a defeat against Leicester and defeats to Everton and Brighton.

Defeat for the Hornets in Saturday's match would see them go 12 points behind the Clarets, who are currently in 17th place, just above the bottom three.

With only 12 more points available after this weekend's game, and a vastly inferior goal difference, it would be all-but impossible for Watford to retain their top flight status this season, should they end up on the wrong side of the scoreline.

Having lost their last 10 games at home, and with no wins from their last four against Burnley, it looks like a tough ask for them to get something to keep their survival hopes alive this weekend.

Pawson will be assisted in the match by Dan Cook and Eddie Smart, while fourth official will be Jonathan Moss.

Stuart Attwell will be on VAR duty, assisted by Marc Perry.
