Watford midfielder Domingos Quina has played his final game out on loan at Barnsley, the South Yorkshire club has confirmed.

Following the Tykes' relegation to League One, Quina, along with fellow loanees Claudio Gomes and Amine Bassi have now left the club and returned to their parent sides.

The 22-year-old has been at Barnsley since the end of the January transfer window, where he moved from Fulham after his loan move there did not work out.

He went on to score two goals from 16 appearances, but his contribution was not enough to prevent Barnsley from dropping out of the Championship.

Although there are two games remaining this season, Barnsley have said that they "will look - where possible - to use players in the remaining league fixtures who are contracted to Barnsley FC beyond the 21/22 campaign."

The Tykes' Chief Executive Officer, Khaled El-Ahmad said: “I would like to thank all of the players for their commitment and effort. Each individual has played a part this season and all at Oakwell would like to wish them well for the future."

Whether or not Quina will feature in Watford's squad next season is subject to decisions made concerning the team come the summer.

Earlier this month the player told the Watford Observer that he hoped to be able to play for the Hornets again in the future.

"I will sit down with my agent and my team, and we'll talk about the plan," he said.

"Even though I haven't played a lot of games at Watford, in the games I've played, the fans have always been there supporting me and not just me, all the players. Obviously, I want to play for the fans and I want to play for Watford, but some things you can't control. I can only control what I can do."
