Watford's returning loan players are not eligible to play in the Premier League between now and the end of the season.

Some supporters have suggested that the likes of Mattie Pollock, Domingos Quina and Tom Dele-Bashiru, whose seasons with lower league opponents have now finished, should be included in matchday squads for the three remaining Hornets' matches.

However, the league's regulations prevent them from being able to appear in the current campaign, with no players permitted to return outside of a transfer window and then play first team football.

The league's guidance reads: “Other than the early recall of a goalkeeper in exceptional circumstances, no other player will be permitted to return outside of a window and play first team football.”

Therefore those players will have to wait until next season before they are able to be selected for the senior squad.
