Rock legend Sir Elton John told fans at his second and last Farewell Yellow Brick Road concert at Vicarage Road tonight that he is ready to take a more active role at Watford FC when this final tour of his career ends next year.
Again expressing his love for both the club and the town, Elton said: “I spoke to Scott Duxbury and said to him that when this tour is over, I’m ready to be involved again.”
In what appears to be a ringing endorsement for the change in direction and culture at the club outlined by Duxbury and new head coach Rob Edwards, Elton was greeted with chants of ‘You ‘orns’ from a packed Vicarage Road as he expressed his desire to “get my hands dirty again”.

The star told the crowd: “We have to put last season behind us now. It’s done. The important thing is next season.
“When August 1 comes around, and we have our first home game against Sheffield United, I want you to make as much noise for the team as you have for me tonight.”
The Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour pauses now, and then restarts in America on July 15 in Philadelphia.

Elton is scheduled to play shows all over the US and Canada for the rest of 2022, before heading to New Zealand in January.
He then returns to Europe in March including playing eight nights at London’s O2 Arena in April.
The tour is currently due to finish in Sweden in July 2023 – meaning Elton would have a lot more time on his hands for the start of the 2023/24 season.
