Watford have not received a second bid from Newcastle United for Joao Pedro, the Watford Observer understands.

After an initial approach in the region of £20million was rejected earlier this week, reports this evening have claimed the Magpies have come back with a second offer of £22m plus £3m in add-ons - and this has also been spurned.

However, this newspaper understands there has not been a second bid contrary to reports elsewhere.

There have been ongoing reports since Tuesday that the Premier League club have been set to table an improved offer.

Commenting on the speculation ahead this morning ahead of Saturday’s trip to Preston North End, head coach Rob Edwards said: “There has a been a bid in for Joao that’s been talked about. It’s not anywhere near the level that we’d expect it to be for him, but I’m involved in that conversation and if anything else was to come in again we’ll sit down and talk about it as a club and as a board.”
