With less than ten hours to the transfer window closing, forward Joao Pedro has told Watford he is “fully committed to the club”.

In a tweet released on the club’s official Twitter page, Pedro said: “I spoke to the board yesterday and I am fully committed to the club and looking forward to a successful season.”

The striker earned plaudits for his performance as Watford came from behind to beat Middlesbrough 2-1 at Vicarage Road on Tuesday.

Amid Sky Sports reports that today the Hornets turned down a bid from Everton to take the Brazilian on loan with a view to buy for £20m – and that the Hornets wanted at least £30m (neither of which the club have said are accurate) – the words from Joao Pedro will certainly be comforting to Watford supporters, who have already seen Emmanuel Dennis leave the club during the summer.

Pedro was the subject of rumours linking him to Newcastle only a few days ago, with many outlets reporting it as a done deal.

However, Pedro now seems to be attempting to draw a line under the gossip with these quotes that the club have released.
