MATT CAIRNS is eyeing a European double this season - winning the Heineken Cup with Saracens while hoping his beloved Liverpool can go all the way in the Champions League.

The Birkenhead-born hooker watched on television as Rafa Benitezs' outfit earn a 1-1 draw at Arsenal in the first leg of the quarter final on Wednesday and has now set his sights on helping Saracens to glory in the last eight of the Heineken Cup, rugby's very own high-end European competition.

The Men in Black take on mighty Welsh region Ospreys at a sold-out Vicarage Road and Cairns, who has recently returned to action after recovering from a broken arm sustained in December, is relishing the challenge.

"This weekend is massive," said the 29-year-old. "For the club, it's the biggest game I've played in. It will be the first time we've filled the ground and we've waited a long time for games like this one to come along. Everyone is very excited and there has been an edge to the boys in training.

"It's a game of rugby and anyone can win it. We all know how good a team Ospreys are - there are no weaknesses in their team. It's a huge challenge for us but we know what we've got to do. We are not scared of them and we know it's a game we can definitely win."

Since breaking his arm in Sarries' come-from-behind Heineken Cup victory in Viadana Cairns has been kicking his heels in frustration. The break meant he could not participate in his other favourite sports, snooker and golf, so he threw all his time into regaining full fitness.

Without the need for a plaster cast, Cairns was back running just a fortnight after having a metal plate inserted into his arm and made his first start in more than three months in last weekend's public hanging of Leeds.

He could not have timed his return any better after shirt rival Andy Kyriacou was ruled out for the rest of the season with knee ligament damage.

"I was delighted to be back against Leeds as I hate being injured, it's so frustrating," added the set piece supremo. "I watched the EDF Cup game against the Ospreys on the television and it was obviously disappointing. We played nowhere near our best and the Ospreys will be massive favourites after that.

"We all wanted to put things right and Leeds bore the brunt of it."
