Kings Langley will be aiming to make it two league wins out of two when they entertain Enfield tonight after opening up their Southern League campaign with a 1-0 win at Kidlington.
On-loan Wealdstone midfielder Declan Phillips scored what proved to be the winner ten minutes after the restart on Saturday to send Kings back down the A41 with maximum points in their first Division One Central game of the season.
Jordan Parkes made a few changes following the FA Cup win over Cockfosters, with young winger Juud Farrant making his debut and Lance Williams and Bradley Dixon-Smith coming into the starting line-up after missing the tie through injury.
Shaun Keane and Isaac Pedro combined as a makeshift central defensive pairing but produced a solid display to help keep Kidlington at bay, with keeper Cian Moore also playing his part with some good saves.
Kings were on top during the early stages but were unable to turn this into much more than half chances for Qasim Khan, Williams and Lorenzo Johnson among others.
The visitors were dealt a blow just before half-time when captain Sam Murphy hobbled off and was replaced by Henry Burt but it would be the new signing who would turned provider ten minutes after the restart when his fine ball in behind the defence was finished off by Phillips for the decisive goal.
Darnell-Joe Luke marshalled a young Kings midfield impressively as the away side looked to manage the remainder of the game, a quality they perhaps lacked during last season.
The visitors had to survive a scare when Moore's clearance struck an onrushing Kidlington player and trickled just wide of the near post, but they saw out the closing stages to get their first league win of the season on the board.
