Oxhey Jets will be hoping a change of competition brings about a change in fortunes in front of goal after their league struggles continued with a 1-0 defeat at home to PFC Victoria.
The Combined Counties League Division One side face Hoddesdon Town in the Herts Charity Shield tonight after Saturday’s sixth successive league loss left them scratching their collective heads.
Jets had plenty of possession, hit the woodwork three times and missed four more gilt-edged chances before their profligacy was punished early in the second half.
Even then, the hosts still kept creating good chances but they continued to go begging and the game was lost.
A run of defeats such as this can often result in exits, but in the last three games, despite forced changes, Jets have managed to find the woodwork with ease but not the net.
The law of averages suggests they must be due a change of luck soon.
