A referee who oversaw two entertaining draws involving Watford last season is set to take charge of tomorrow night’s Carabao Cup tie at Manchester City.
The EFL website has stated that David Webb has been appointed as the referee for the third round clash against the Premier League champions at the Etihad Stadium.
The Lancashire official was in charge for Tom Cleverley’s first home game in interim charge of the Hornets, the 2-2 draw with Leeds United in March, having previously been in the middle for the 3-3 draw at Coventry City last September.
Webb has refereed four games to date in the current campaign, all in the Championship, and has issued a total of 12 yellow cards.
Mark Dwyer and Matthew Smith are due to be the assistant referees for the 7.45pm kick-off, with Matthew Donohue on fourth official duties.
Watford reached the third round with 5-0 and 2-0 victories over MK Dons and Plymouth Argyle respectively, while Pep Guardiola's side enter at the third round stage due to their Champions League involvement.
